Like the first disciples, most African pastors find themselves so engaged in ministry that they, too, at times need rest. The church is experiencing rapid growth throughout sub-Saharan Africa as pastors labor to bring the good news of God's redeeming love. We have the distinct privilege of joining their labor. The demands on these often overworked and underpaid servants are great. They need a place to pause from their pastoral duties to refocus on the source of their strength, God alone, and be sent out again to serve.

The centerpiece of the Barnabas House vision is a retreat center in Ndola, Zambia. The center will offer preaching workshops, minstry enrichment seminars and other opportunities to gain practical ministry experience. It will also provide pastors access to a wide variety of educational materials, books and other resources that they might not otherwise have available. The Retreat Center will offer pastors facing "burn-out" the opportunity to recharge spiritually. They will benefit from mentoring, mutual support and friendships as they share ministry experiences and ideas with other pastors. We believe that refreshed, renewed and informed pastors will minister to their congregations with greater passion, maturity and effectiveness.

Barnabas House is recognized as a charitable organization by both the U.S. and Zambian governments. (See our documents for details.)
