The Church in Africa is growing
- In 1970, there were approximately 97
million professing Christians in Africa. Now
there are over 350 million Christians
throughout the continent.
CHALLENGES accompany growth - This
phenomenal growth poses a big challenge for
pastors who find themselves dealing with a multitude
of issues including the threat of AIDS,
Islam insurgency, false doctrines, animism
and poverty. Most pastors find themselves
ministering to multiple churches or church
plants led by untrained pastors.
Christian Leaders need renewal too -
Many African pastors must labor day after
day without adequate resources, training, or
encouragement.
These leaders
need opportunities to be developed,
recharged, and equipped so that they will be
empowered to minister to God's people with
passion and vitality. The Barnabas
House Retreat Center seeks to meet this need
by providing week long retreats focused on
the training and renewal of pastors,
restoring their effectiveness through
the replenishment of their spiritual reserves.
